The traditional Viennese company Piatnik, now the biggest games manufacturing company in Austria, celebrated 200 years of its existence in 2024. Austrian Post and Stampfinity congratulated it on this special Jubilee with original miniature sheets in the shape of a playing card. The four miniature sheets are also real playing cards, namely aces in the suits hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. They are made from card, which was treated with the varnish used for real playing cards after printing. The gummed stamp itself features the characteristic Piatnik logo; it has been cut out separately and can be detached from the sheet. As a really original feature, the
miniature sheet can also genuinely be used as a playing card, as each sheet is part of a set including four other playing cards in the relevant suit, namely the King, Queen, Jack and Ten. The sets in all four suits combine to create a complete exclusive deck of twenty cards that can be used for a game of Schnapsen or sixty-six. What an incredible idea!
